Activity 3.1.2 Flowcharts

In this activity students were tasked with completing a worksheet (3.1.2) with regarding flowcharts. There were 3 questions in which students had to create a flowchart based on the information given by the worksheet.

RC Prop Car Project

For this project, my team (Michael Hardy, Federico , and myself) designed a car with a cylindrical body, three rudders and three wheels. The design was very sturdy, with the prop protected inside of the body and capable of directing wind through the rudders. Unfortunately, our turning mechanism (the rudders and the rear wheel) failed to synch properly.

3.1.3 Basic Programming

My team, Michael Hardy, Ezekiel Jimenez and myself, have somehow lost our work on this section. I will conduct a summary of our work based on memory in the following:

3.1.3 Basic Programming Summary:

- Equipment used: RoboPro software and controller, miscellaneous fischertechnik components

- There were 18 questions total in the assignment, however only a handful of questions were answerable, others were steps.

- The hardest challenge was probably the first one, for it was the first real time that we had to create a program

- End result: We constructed multiple digital flowcharts that outlined a software capable of controlling our fischertechnik components

Marble Sorter Challenge

The Marble Sorter Project (officially known as the Capstone Project) was a challenge in which several teams competed to construct a more effective marble sorter than the other teams. The minimum number of marbles that could be sorted (to earn points) was three.

My groups' marble sorter sorted three marble types and had a two foot drop height (it can actually do six, but we decided to drop from two feet). There were four members in my group: Michael Hardy, Ezekiel Jimenez, Jesse Gross, and myself. I am pleased with our final design.

Achievements:
1) Organize it!
2) I've Made a Few Special Modifications...
    * Added a fan to push wooden marbles
    * Constructed a new hopper
    * Disassembled sorter and rebuilt it with many support improvements
3) Reflection
    + : Creative solutions, results fulfill problem statement
    - : Teamwork, only a couple of our members were constantly working (together)
    ? : Next time we need to improve our teamwork, and procrastinate less (and work on focus)
    ! : Why not have the entire class as one group and make them sort ten different kinds of marbles?
4) Process 15 marbles in less than 30 seconds. (6 to 10 seconds)
5) Marble Delivery
6) Drop marbles from 2 feet above machine
7) Used at least one motor

Minecraft Extra Credit

Over the past couple of months I have created a complex Minecraft world that implements many technological innovations and solves many commonly found issues. Transportation, safety, and trade have been greatly improved.

Activity 3.1.7

In this assignment students were given the ability to choose two of the several given projects. My group chose projects 1 (start/finish line) and 5 (elevator).

Project 5 (elevator) was much more difficult than 1, it took us 41 cords and a massive program to do, but eventually we got it done.
